Yerukhim Abramovich Kreinovich (1906–1985) was a noted scholar and philologist of the Nivkh people. His monograph Нивхгу. Загадочные обитатели Амура и Сахалина (“Nivkhgu: Mysterious Inhabitants of the Amur and Sakhalin”) is written as a field diary covering a period from the 1920s to the 1930s. The book describes the customs and language of the Nivkh. The monograph was written towards the end of Kreinovich’s life, and published by the Sakhalin Book Publishing House posthumously in 2001.
