Unified Northern Alphabet (Tver’ Karelian)

A Tver’ Karelian alphabetAll-Union Central Committee of the New Alphabet, 1931, p. 78. was developed by the All-Union Central Committee of the New Alphabet in 1930,Used in Tver’ Karelian educational material and newspapers. (All-Union Central Committee of the New Alphabet, 1931, p. 78.) largely in response to the growing dismay with the Finnish dominance. Karelia, it was argued, represented a separate and unique culture from Finland. In the eyes of Soviet, Standard Finnish was the language of “capitalist Finland and Greater-Finland nationalists”.Austin, 1992.
