Possibly the earliest Swedish poem put to text is written in Elfdalian. In 1668, a 26-year old Samuel Petri Elfving from Uppsala wrote the wedding poem, lek oppi Biärghults ock Meäits de Valloies, in hexameter for his uncle, Daniel Johannes Buscovius.Sapir, 2006, p. 34. The poem is reproduced in Bengt Hesselmann’s Bröllopsdikter På Dialekt Från 1600- Och 1700- Talen. Interestingly, it also features three words written with runes.Hesselmann, 1937, pp. 1–2.
