In 1992, Lantmäteriet – the Swedish Mapping, Cadastral and Land Registration Authority – approached the Sámi associations for assistance with Sámi names in their maps. The project necessitated a consistent spelling of the 4000 Ume Sámi place names,Lantmäteriet, 2022. promting the formation of a working group in Árviesjávrrie under the name ”Vuöbmie och Geäddie”.
