Jakobsen’s phonetic transcriptions follows the Norvegia tradition,The phonetic characters are omitted here. For the Norvegia phonetic transcription system, see Storm, 1884. while his practical orthography shown in An Etymological Dictionary of the Norn Language in Shetland incorporate some characters from the surrounding Scandinavian languages.
